Dental Health Week 2026

Dental Health Week was held between August 3rd to August 9th 2026. It was a wonderful opportunity for the Namo Dental team to take oral health education into our local community.

Where did we visit?

This year, members of our team, including our Oral Health Therapists (OHTs), Dental Assistants (DAs) and receptionists, visited four local childcare centres to help make learning about teeth fun, engaging and memorable for young children.

We thank the following childcares for having us for half a day each:

  • Woodlands Childcare and Education Sunbury
  • Little Stars Early Learning and Kindergarten Sunbury
  • Pelican Early Learning Cairnlea
  • Story House Early Learning Keilor Downs.

What did we do?

At each centre, our team spent time talking with the children about the importance of looking after their teeth and gums from an early age. This year’s Dental Health Week’s campaign was focused on building good dental habits early and stop small issues.

Our staff focused on making dental health easy to understand, using age-appropriate conversations and interactive activities to help children feel comfortable and excited about caring for their smiles.

The children had the opportunity to learn about everyday habits that support good oral health. These habits include brushing their teeth, making tooth-friendly food and drink choices, and visiting the dentist regularly. These simple habits can make a big difference as children grow. The Australian Dental Association recommends that a child’s first dental visit when their first teeth appear, helping establish positive dental experiences from an early age.

One of the highlights for our team was seeing the children’s enthusiasm and curiosity. There were plenty of questions, smiles and moments of excitement as they learned more about their teeth and what they can do to keep them healthy.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to all four childcare centres, educators and children for welcoming the Namo Dental team and making our Dental Health Week visits so enjoyable.

Community education is an important part of what we do at Namo Dental! We loved having the opportunity to encourage healthy habits and positive attitudes towards dental care in our youngest community members.
